ABOUT BYRON BAY BUILDING MATERIALS

  BBBM commenced trading in 1987.

The initial set up was at 13-15 Banksia Drive, Byron Bay and was known as Byron Bay Building Materials and Joinery.
 It was purchased by Mike and Gayle Aherne from Jack Porter who ran a building materials and joinery shop.
When purchased, Mike continued with the joinery as well as building up sales in building materials.
More and more stock was purchased and gradually the business evolved from joinery to selling building materials.
In 1995 the business was moved to the current site at 1 and 3 Grevillea Street.
In 2005 additional land at 5 Grevillea Street was added to the site.
BBBM employ full-time, part-time and casual staff.

About the founders

Mike has a background in the building industry, having a trade as a Joiner. 
Gayle has a background in administration and accounting.
Mike and Gayle, along with their two sons, moved from Alice Springs to Ballina and purchased the then known Byron Bay Building Materials and Joinery.  Just after the purchase their third son was born.  All three sons are now actively involved in the business.
